Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, weapons, armor and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, gathered in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade item upgrading of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the required material or component needed to make that happen.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, however they cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph by another the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level, but the required materials don't increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of those items, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
If an item is finished being leveled and is leveled out, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is called the Artisan’s Energy and it resets to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available is contingent on the type of item it is. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes for it and legendary armors can have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade process will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item is not able to get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option to transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials however it will result in lower chances of success.
Engineers employ a level to compare the height of the building against an established point, such as a benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in very rare instances.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to obtain tokens for rerolls. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be a good or a bad thing, depending on your requirements and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher your chance of getting an exclusive bonus.
The game also features a number of sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a good way to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. This is because rerolling can give players a faster route to a more powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the quality of the item's stats when in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have many armor pieces or weapons.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level as their levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on their character screen. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor that has an updated appearance.
